| Don't believe myths about Public Adjusters and learn the facts. |
Many people in the United States don’t know much about Public Adjusters or how they can be of service. A Public Adjuster is a person you go to when your insurance company doesn’t pay the correct amount to cover damages to a property when it is necessary. The lack of knowledge has caused some to create and believe stories that are nothing but myths. So to keep you well informed and aware of all the facts, here are the top five myths about Public Adjusters that need to be busted:
1. They charge a fortune. The amount of money that a Public Adjuster can charge their clients is capped by state regulations. Meaning that depending on each state, there is a set percentage of money the PA is entitled to. There are some clauses, such as states of emergency, where a PA can’t charge more than 10% of the amount the insurance company pays off.
2. Public Adjusters are scammers. All Public Adjusters go through extensive background checks and are fingerprinted at the time they apply for a license. Also, all PAs have a state issue license to practice their office. People with criminal records, such as felonies, are barred from ever applying for a license. So you can be sure they are people with exemplary backgrounds.
3. Insurance companies will raise your premium if you hire a Public Adjuster. They can’t do that. By state regulations of the state code of ethics, gauging is prohibited. So your insurance company won’t raise your premium. Insurance companies may not like it when their policyholders hire Public Adjusters but there is nothing they can do about it, least of all retaliate.
4. You’ll lose your insurance after hiring a Public Adjuster. Again, by the state code of ethics, insurance companies can’t drop or refuse to cover a client any further just because they hired a Public Adjuster. Usually, an insurance company will only drop you as a client if you fail to pay the premium or if they have other valid reasons to do so.
5. Public Adjusters commit frauds. Many people believe that a Public Adjuster will try to get an absurd amount of money from your insurance company or carrier in order to get the most profit out of each claim. There are plenty of regulations and laws that all Public Adjusters must abide and act on. When the Public Adjuster creates a budget based on the inspection of the damaged property, they are required to pass a copy to the insurance carrier or company who can then program an inspection of their own. In most cases, Public Adjusters negotiate with the company or carrier until an agreement is made, leaving little room for fraud there.
Now that you are aware of these myths and the truth behind them, you can hire a Public Adjuster if you ever need one. Trust that they are there to help you out and make sure that you are well covered. Public Adjusters work for the people, not against them.
In a state annually hit by hurricanes and tropical storms, such as Florida, every person that owns an insured property should always have a Public Adjuster as one of their contacts in case they ever need one. We know you trust your insurance company but remember that as with any company in the world, they will try to pay as little as possible in any given situation. In these cases, you can always count on people like Alfredo Arnesen, Public Adjuster to help you out. With plenty of years of experience under his arm in this field, he’s the one you want to turn to in cases like these.
